Crime data on Bend parks proves surprising to some Juniper Park neighbors

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Bend Police Department and Bend Park and Recreation District recently released years worth of data about crime in the public parks.

It’s available on the Bend Police website as part of their Data Hub at https://policedata.bendoregon.gov/pages/parks-incidents

The data shows a large number of calls for service to Juniper Park. When NewsChannel 21 talked with neighbors living next the park, they were surprised by the data. Many of them felt their neighborhood was quiet and safe. Some even said it had improved in the last decade.

The increased call numbers are likely due to the popularity of the Swim and Fitness Center.
