Caught on camera: Madras police receive graffiti-tagger tips after releasing security video
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A Madras police release of security video showing at least one alleged graffiti tagger has brought in tips officers are busy following up on, Police Chief Tim Plummer said Thursday.
The department posted the video on its Facebook page Wednesday and requested help from the community to identify the people seen in the video from a recent tagging incident.
“Vandalism not only damages property but also affects the beauty and safety of our community,” the online post said.
Police asked anyone with information or who recognized those in the video to contact the Madras Police Department at 541-475-2424 or email info@madraspd.us.
“Your assistance is greatly appreciated in keeping Madras clean and safe,” the agency said, adding: “See something, say something! Thank you for your support.”
Plummer told KTVZ News on Thursday, “We’re getting some tips we’re following up on. The community has been very helpful, and we’re very appreciative of that.”
Some of the tips involve minors, the police chief said, so the release of information may be limited due to juvenile privacy and confidentiality requirements.
Still, Plummer said, “When we’re able to ID folks, we will let the public know we have identified them and that appropriate enforcement action has been taken.”
