Redmond man found fatally shot; homicide detectives, Major Incident Team seek information from the public

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Police found a Redmond man fatally shot in an open area of southwest Redmond early Monday morning and soon determined it was a homicide. Officers and detectives are now seeking information from the public.

Officers responded around 1:45 a.m. Monday to a 911 call in an unimproved area west of SW 6th Street and Umatilla Avenue, Redmond Police Lt. April Huey said late Tuesday.

"After the initial response, it was determined that a homicide had occurred," Huey said.

The man, identified as 44-year-old Anthony Spear of Redmond, died from a gunshot wound.

RPD officers and detectives, along with the Central Oregon Major Incident Team (MIT), are investigating the incident. 

"RPD would like to thank MIT for assisting with this investigation," Huey said in a news release. "If you have any information regarding this incident, RPD case #25-18381, please contact non-emergency Dispatch at 541-693-6911."
