Two adults, three children dead in apparent murder-suicide in Josephine County

(Update: Adding video)

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (KOBI) – An investigation is underway into what authorities are saying is a murder-suicide that claimed five lives, including three children, in Josephine County.

Oregon State Police say Josephine County sheriff’s deputies conducted a welfare check in the 200 block of Hussey Lane, in the Picket Creek area, on Monday morning just after 9:30.

The sheriff’s office responded to the residence after learning that the woman who lived there had uncharacteristically not shown up for work.

Upon arrival, officers with both the sheriff’s office and OSP entered the home after observing suspicious conditions. Inside, they found five people who they suspected died from gunshot wounds.

Police identified the individuals as 42-year-old Hannah Marie Behee, as well as three children: an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old girl. OSP also located the body of 40-year-old Chad Scott Behee, who they believe is the suspect in what they say is a murder-suicide incident.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Oregon State Police lead the investigation with the assistance of the Grants Pass Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing, and any person with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Oregon State Police at 800-442-0776 or *OSP (*677) and reference case number SP25-366471.
