Federal agents raid Portland home after laser was pointed at Customs helicopter; four people taken into CBP custody

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Federal agents raided a Portland home Monday morning after someone allegedly aimed a laser at a Customs and Border Protection agency helicopter conducting law enforcement activity and another aicraft in the skies over Portland. Officials said four people living in the U.S. illegally were taken into custody.
Agents from the FBI Portland Division, with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations and Federal Protective Service, conducted the search, officials said in a news release about the Saturday evening incident.
Agents made contact with the subject, as well as three other inhabitants who were at the residence, they said. The FBI said all four suspects are in the U.S. illegally and were placed in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Enforcement and Removal Operations personnel.
The laser allegedly used was acquired during the investigation, they said.
"The federal government will not tolerate violence against federal officers, nor will we tolerate assaults on personal, commercial, or government aircraft," officials said, adding, "We cannot comment further on this matter at this time."Â
