BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon State University – Cascades will host a public meeting next week to gather input on a proposal for an Environmental Protection Agency grant of about $4 million to remediate a portion of the former Deschutes County demolition landfill for future expansion plans.

The project will provide 24 acres of usable land in preparation for a student health and recreation center, student housing and other campus buildings, bringing the total usable land on the campus to nearly 100 acres.

The meeting will take place via webinar from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 24.

OSU-Cascades Director of Communications and Community Engagement Christine Coffin said the school hopes to apply for $4 million, "but feedback during the webinar will help us understand if that request aligns with community needs and desires."

The deadline for public comment is Nov. 8. Comment can be submitted during the webinar, via the online form or by mail. To learn webinar details or how to submit a comment visit https://osucascades.edu/expansion/EPAproposal-fy25
