REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A fire caused about $25,000 damage to a southwest Redmond home Friday afternoon, but firefighters kept it from spreading to nearby homes, an official said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue responded around 3:45 p.m. to the reported fire at a home in the 1500 block of Southwest 36th Loop, Fire Marshal/Public Information Officer Tom Mooney said.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from behind the home and worked quickly to stop its spread, Mooney said.

There were early reports of a gas line on fire, prompting potential evacuations, but it was determined to be a propane tank from a barbecue that was safely vending, he said.

No injuries were reported, as all occupants escaped safely.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, with an investigator on scene conducting interviews and evaluating the fire scene.

Redmond Fire & Rescue was assisted on the scene by Bend Fire & Rescue and Redmond Police.
