Central Oregon firefighters check smoke reports, work to contain fires amid more possible lightning, flash flooding

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Firefighters are continuing their efforts on checking smoke reports and responding to lightning-sparked fires throughout Central Oregon, with both a red flag warning and a flash flood watch over 2024 burn scars for later Thursday.
Notable fire activity includes the Kwohl Fire, Boulder Fire, and Incident 0667.
Here's Thursday's update:
The Kwohl Fire west of Bend is now contained.
The Boulder Fire east of Prineville is 21 acres and 60% contained. This fire will be staffed with engines today to continue to work toward containment goals.
Incident 0667, which is burning 20 miles east of Hampton in grass and brush, remains at 27 acres and is now 90% contained. Firefighters from the High Desert Rangeland Fire Protection Association and interagency resources will continue suppression work on the incident today.
Today, firefighters are prepared to respond to new starts as a result of lightning the area received overnight and holdover fires from earlier in the week.
