For the second time this year, Trump campaign chose not to submit an Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet statement

PORTLAND, Ore. (KGW) — The Oregon Voters' Pamphlet is arriving in mailboxes across the state ahead of the Nov. 5 election. The booklet lists candidates running for president, vice president and U.S. representative in addition to those vying for county roles. 

But a campaign statement from one presidential candidate is absent. 

Former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump does not appear in the pamphlet alongside Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, or Pacific Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Though Trump's name does appear on Page 26 of the booklet, marked with an asterisk.  

An asterisk at the bottom of the page notes: "Candidate chose not to submit a voters' pamphlet statement."

On Thursday, the Oregon secretary of state addressed the topic in a post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The post reads, in part: "The Trump campaign chose not to participate. It was not an omission by officials. Trump/Vance will still be on your ballot."

The Oregon Republican Party shared a message with a similar explanation on its website. 

"The decision not to submit a statement was made by the Trump campaign earlier this year," the statement reads. "Rest assured: President Trump WILL be on your ballot, along with other strong, common-sense Republican candidates."

Both the secretary of state and the Oregon GOP noted that the former president and his running mate JD Vance will appear on Oregon ballots. 

Several other candidates also appear to have not submitted a statement for the Voters' Pamphlet, as noted by an asterisk. We The People vice presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan, Libertarian vice presidential candidate Mike ter Maat and Stein's running mate, Rudolph Ware, do not have statements printed in the booklet.

The Trump campaign also did not submit a statement for the Oregon Voters' Pamphlet back in May, mailed out to Oregonians ahead of the primary election. 

Register to vote by Oct. 15

Tuesday, Oct. 15 is the deadline for Oregon voters to register. Oregonians can register to vote in person at their county clerk's office, or online. If registering online, plan to have a valid Oregon driver's license, permit or ID card on hand.

Ballots will be mailed out starting Wednesday, Oct. 16.
