City of Madras, Redevelopment Commission celebrate grand opening of new downtown venue, The Spot
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The City of Madras and the Madras Redevelopment Commission are thrilled to congratulate The Spot on its grand opening Thursday night. This exciting new venue marks a vibrant addition to our community, offering a dynamic space for food, drinks, and entertainment in the heart of Madras.
Located at 225 S. 5th Street, The Spot is a unique venue featuring outdoor fire pits, food trucks, a full-service kitchen, and a two-story bar with seating both upstairs and downstairs. Whether you’re enjoying a cozy evening by the fire, attending a live performance, or sampling the delicious food offerings, The Spot is designed to bring people together and create a lively atmosphere for our community to enjoy.
The City of Madras and the MRC are proud to have played a role in bringing The Spot to life. Since 2022, the MRC has provided $60,000 in grant funding and $450,000 in loan funding to help transform this site, which was formerly the location of the Wild Bleu.
“The MRC’s investment in The Spot is part of our ongoing mission to revitalize key areas of Madras, support local businesses, and create new jobs” said MRC Chair Gabriel Soliz. “This is exactly the kind of project we’ve been working toward – encouraging economic growth in our downtown, and making Madras a place where people want to be, and we’re proud to be a part of that.”
The Spot’s vision includes a flexible, multi-use space that will host a variety of community events right in our downtown. It will also serve as a platform for local artists and musicians, including opportunities for middle and high school students to perform and gain exposure. In the winter, The Spot will host special events like trivia nights, and student music concerts, further strengthening the sense of community.
The MRC’s financial support of The Spot, along with collaboration with property owner Andre Jackson, has helped turn this vision into a reality. Jackson, who has invested in multiple properties in the Madras area, shared his excitement about the project’s potential to not only revitalize the downtown area but also create a hub of activity that brings residents and visitors together.
The MRC’s ongoing efforts in downtown revitalization reflect a long-term vision for Madras, focusing on creating spaces that enhance the local quality of life, support businesses, and foster community engagement.
