DEVELOPING: Centennial Park in Redmond closed after chlorine leak

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Centennial Park in Redmond, is closed after the City of Redmond located a small, contained chlorine leak on July 6, 2026.

The incident, reported at approximately 11:14 a.m., has not resulted in any reported injuries and poses no imminent threat to the community.

The park remains closed as it awaits the arrival of the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team from Salem to assist in the cleanup.

Although a noticeable chlorine smell is present in the area, the incident is localized and contained.

The Redmond Police Department reminds citizens to report any gas odors or chemical leaks to non-emergency Dispatch at 541-693-6911.

Media inquiries regarding the incident should be directed to Redmond Fire & Rescue, which is serving as the primary response agency.

The closure of Centennial Park is expected to last several hours while the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team addresses the leak.
