Deschutes County Voters’ pamphlets arriving soon

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Voter information pamphlets for the upcoming May primary election are expected to arrive in mailboxes between April 22 and April 29. The materials include information on statewide races, a gas tax and local measures.

The primary election features a variety of contests and issues for voters to consider. While the pamphlets provide a broad overview of the upcoming election, the specific races available to each voter depend on their party affiliation and residency.

In Deschutes County, the pamphlet includes information on local fire district measures alongside broader state contests.

Deschutes County Clerk Steve Dennison explained that the primary format affects what voters will see on their official ballots.

"that this is a primary election, any nonpartisan or minor party affiliated voters will not see any Partisan races on their ballot. Therefore, any, federal or state Partisan races that information in the voters pamphlet really doesn't apply to them," Dennison said.

If a pamphlet does not arrive in the mail during the scheduled window, copies will be available at local post offices. Residents can also view the document online by visiting the Deschutes County Clerk's website.

The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is April 28. Pamphlets are expected to be delivered to households no later than April 29.
