Surfing legend, Bend resident Gerry Lopez weighs in on surfing’s arrival as Olympic sport

Back in 1912, Duke Kahanamoku, the father of surfing, petitioned the IOC to allow surfing in the Olympics. 109 years later, surfing debuted in the Tokyo Summer Olympics. One of the most famous surfers of all time, Gerry Lopez, sat down with Lee Anderson to discuss the sport finally making it into the Games, and what he thought of America's chances to win gold!
