High Desert Museum lauches Renewable Energy Station on Earth Day

Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) —  In celebration of Earth Day, the High Desert Museum unveiled a new exhibit. Located in their desertarium, they've launched a "Renewable Energy Station".

It's a touch screen where kids can learn about solar, wind and hydroelectric energy sources. They get to do things like plant flowers and fields of solar panels or help fish up a fish ladder. Interactive screens give kids a hands-on way to learn.

Heidi Hagemeier, Director of Communications at the High Desert Museum, says, "We wanted to present the material in a way that was accessible and engaging for those of all ages, and this station really provides a way to explore different aspects of renewable energy and explain it in a detailed visual kind of way."

The launch of the new station coincides with Earth Day. It also matches the theme of this year's Earth Day, which is "Our Power, Our Planet," focusing on renewable energy.
