Sunriver Nature Center holds campus clean-up
SUNRIVER, Ore. (KTVZ) — Volunteers worked to make the Earth a better place at Monday's Sunriver Nature Center campus clean-up.
Volunteers raked, weeded and painted parts of the Nature Center that needed attention. This is actually their Earth Day and Arbor Day event all, rolled into one. They're using it to launch a new season of activities at the center.
"The nature center has been a little bit quieter the last number of years." said
Shannon Reis, executive director at the Nature Center, "and so we're trying to really kind of liven up this space and provide some new opportunities for folks. We have some projects on the way, some big capital things that we'll be working on."
At the event, they sold saplings to be planted on Arbor Day. Project Ponderosa is another side project of the Sunriver Nature Center to raise money. Proceeds from the sales support Project Ponderosa's environmental education programs and the Nature Center.
