Pets from welfare investigation up for adoption

Redmond, Ore. (KTVZ) — Eighteen dogs, and seventeen cats taken in by Brightside Animal Center are becoming available for adoption this week. These pets were surreded to the shelter as part of an active welfare investigation at a farm north of Redmond.

The conditions of these dogs and cats vary greatly, with some of them needing a lot of medical attention. Others are healthy, but skittish around people.

Brightside Animal Center is focusing on getting them use to people, and finding them homes. Savanah Wellman, Development and Volunteer Manager at the center said many of the dogs were making good progress shelter.

“Some of the puppies you saw, they're happy go lucky right now." Wellman said after introducing KTVZ to a group of dogs. "we've been really focusing on playgroups and getting them very well socialized with volunteers and staff. When they came to us, you know, they were unable to walk on a leash. Very fearful. So that socialization, patience played a huge part in getting them ready for adoption.”

If you’re interested in helping in other ways, such as volunteering or donating, you’re encouraged to call the shelter.
