Enjoy the Sun Before a Mid-Week Shift Hits the High Desert

KTVZ-TV

If you have outdoor plans, try to get them done early this week. While we’re looking at a nice stretch with highs near 60°F through Tuesday, the National Weather Service is tracking a shift in the pattern headed our way starting Wednesday.

The Early Week Breeze
Expect a bit of a breeze tonight with gusts up to 25 mph. Sisters and La Pine may see up to 35 mph. Monday and Tuesday look like the "sweet spots"—mostly sunny and pleasant for Bend, Redmond, Madras, and Prineville.

The Mid-Week Shift (Wednesday & Thursday)
Keep a rain jacket handy as we head into Wednesday. A storm system is highly likely to bring moisture to the Cascades and East Slopes mid-week.

  • Precipitation is expected to start Wednesday night. By Thursday, we could see a mix of rain and light snow as temperatures drop into the 40s.
  • The Mountains: High-elevation communities like Sunriver and La Pine should prepare for a return to winter. Measurable snow is likely Wednesday through Thursday night, with moderate accumulations possible at the passes.

The Weekend Payoff
The good news? This system is moving through quickly. Skies should clear out by Thursday night, leaving us with a bright Friday and Saturday. By next weekend, we’ll be right back into the 60s.
