Snow off and on today, blustery at times
A significant blast of wintry weather will cause trouble for most of the region. Several inches of snow will fall on the mountains through the day making travel through the passes difficult. There is also a chance for a few inches of snow over the high desert.
The snow today will be widespread so if you are planning to get out and about, give yourself some extra time to get to your destination.
Temperatures will be cold enough to support snow in the morning, but as the mercury in the thermometer rises into the middle 30s by the afternoon, we may see the snow mix in with some rain.
Tonight, the snow is going to linger over the Cascades but should taper off in the lower elevated locations. Icy roads may be a problem tonight if we get the wintry mix late in the day. Black ice will be possible.
Sunday will be chilly, but the snow will be very spotty, if at all. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon and temperature readings in the 30s.
Snow is expected to return on Monday and is forecast to linger, off and on, through the work week.
Area resorts may see a few feet of snow by the middle of the week.Â
