Drying out and slightly milder pattern this week
The area is getting a break from the snow and wintry pattern that has been with us since last week. There will be some lingering snow on the Cascades that will make the resorts happy, and the High Desert will see a dry period to go along with some milder air to make drivers happy.
The rainy pattern will be on hiatus this week as high pressure develops to our east and pushes in some dry air. There is still a bit of rain to linger in Oregon Wednesday, but by Thursday the area should see partly to mostly sunny skies. Afternoon high temperature readings will be in the low to middle 50s starting Thursday and should repeat that feat into the weekend.
There will be some chilly nights but not bitterly cold nights ahead. Temperatures will hover around the upper 20s to low 30s each morning and pockets of fog are not off the table. There is still a decent amount of snow yet to melt in the lower elevations, and we may get some foggy pockets. Overall, the pattern looks to be on the “quiet side” this week.
The next chance for some precipitation region wide will not arrive until next Monday. The temperatures are likely to drop into the 30s for highs Monday and that will translate into another round of snow. The last week of February looks to be very wintry, with snow and colder air taking over the Pacific Northwest.
