Cloudy and cooler today, spotty showers possible

Central Oregon is going the be on the mild side today as the mercury in the thermometer is expected to reach the upper 60s and low 70s. The brisk winds from time to time are making it feel a bit on the chilly side, so maybe a windbreaker jacket would be a nice addition today.

Wednesday will be the coolest day of the short work week as highs will only reach the middle 60s.  The dry northwest winds will be a noticeable feature tomorrow, but other than the cooler than normal day, we should be relatively quiet.

Thursday starts a nice warm up for the region. Highs will be back into the low 70s under mostly sunny skies. We close out the work week with a bit warmer weather Friday as Central Oregon may top out in the low 80s once again.

Friday is the last day of the Meteorological Spring and we begin the Meteorological Summer June 1st. The Meteorological Summer consists of the months of June, July, and August, the three warmest months of the year. This is the way records are kept by the National Weather Service and the Climate Prediction Center.  It is more consistent than the Astronomical Summer, which is based on the relationship of the Earth to the Sun.

The first weekend of June will be mild and sunny Saturday with highs in the middle 70s, followed by a mild Sunday with a few clouds arriving late in the day. Monday should be cloudy with rain showers off and on.
