String of 80-degree days coming to an end, cooler this weekend
The last several days the mercury in the thermometer has crossed the 80° mark in Bend. Our region has been on the northern edge of the ridge of high pressure dominating the headlines recently which has been responsible for the heat. That ridge has been shifting east and as a result, we have been seeing less upper 80s and more middle to low 80s. Still, the 80° weather is much warmer than normal as highs should be topping out in the low 70s.
Wednesday will be the first day since June 5th that we do not make the 80s. A slightly milder day is expected as winds arrive from the north, ushering in the cooler air. Don’t get too used to the 70s, I expect to see the middle 80s return on Thursday.
Thursday will be about 10° warmer than our normal low 70s as we top out in the low 80s. Mostly sunny skies will still be the best way to define the day, as winds relax and the sun warms the area.
Friday will be the beginning of a more sustained cool down as highs return to the 70s along with a brisk breeze. Saturday is expected to be much cooler than recent days as highs only reach the middle 60s. Some clouds arrive late and Sunday is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy. Some hints of light rain showers either Sunday or Monday have entered the forecast so as we start the new work week, some light rain may be present. Tuesday may, once again, see some rain. Highs Sunday hit the middle 60s then the upper 60s on Monday followed by low 70s on Tuesday.
