Cool down Thursday, warmer into the weekend

The weather at the Darlene Fire has been breezy today which has allowed the fire to expand to nearly 2500 acres by noon (Wednesday.) The fire has been growing east over the past several hours and is currently 30% contained.  The weather conditions will not be favorable for quick containment, as the eastern edge continues to push into brush and timber which will burn aggressively at times.

The forecast for the region is calling for some cloud cover to arrive today and there is a slight chance for some mountain showers.  The rain will not make it east of the crest of the Cascades by much, so don’t expect to see much moisture along highway 97.  Well east and north there will be a few showers and thunderstorms that will move away from our three counties of coverage.

Thursday will be a pleasant and cooler day with highs reaching the low 70s region wide. The area will also see some breezy conditions as well.  Skies will be cloudy to partly cloudy then clear in the evening.

Friday will begin a run of 80° weather through the weekend. Highs will be in the low 80s under sunny skies Saturday and Sunday.  There will be a slight warming trend that will present itself next week as the temperature readings rise a couple degrees each day.  Wednesday we will see the mercury in the thermometer top out in the middle 80s under sunny skies.
