Wildfires continue to grow, breaking heat records

Good Thursday morning!

High pressure is building off the east, leading to several days of hot and dry weather in the Pacific Northwest. Today, temperatures across Central Oregon will reach the 90s.

Temperatures have been above 90 for over two weeks in Bend. We’re getting close to beating a record set back in 1927.

The cloudy skies have cleared up and the rain has tapered away. Unfortunately, the storms on Tuesday did little to help us with our growing fires in the state.

High fire danger remains our biggest concern with the current conditions. Recent lightning strikes ignited dozens of fires, introducing more light to moderate smoke into the area. This may impact air quality throughout the day.

Persistent pattern of heat lingers until after the weekend... and maybe longer.

Enjoy your day but remember to keep yourself safe out there.
