Changing pattern ahead, mountain snow and some low elevation mix
There will be a series of low pressure systems pushing in from the eastern Pacific over the next several days. The result will be periods of rain and snow over the high desert, with several inches of snow on the Cascades by the end of the weekend.
The High Desert will see off and on snow at night when it is cold enough, and a bit of a mix in the daylight hours as it will be in the 40s. The waves of energy will be seen every other day.
The first round of mountain snow and some low elevation snow rain mix will be Wednesday night into Thursday. This is expected to bring 5 or 6 inches to the Cascades, and very little in the way of accumulation along 97. Sisters and La Pine may see a few inches.
Thursday afternoon through Friday we have a bit of a break, although snow will still get squeezed out in the mountains. The temps will be in the low 40s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
Saturday the winds pick up early and there will be a good shot of snow in the High Desert Saturday morning. About 6 or 7 more inches to the mountains, and an inch or so along 97.
Sunday will see only mountain snow, then some flurries are likely on Monday below 3500 feet. The last in the series of low pressure systems will exit Monday and we start to dry out on Tuesday.
Please stay safe.
