Wet pattern begins with periods of snow and rain
Starting tonight, rain and snow will move in with an incoming low pressure system and an occluded front. This is the second system out of about four that are impacting us over the next week. The high desert will see a periods of snow, rain, and wintry mix as each system passes.
We could see around a half foot of snow accumulate along the Cascades by Thursday morning with the possibility of an inch or two in the higher elevations of Central Oregon, like Sunriver and La Pine.
There will be a pause in precipitation during the day Thursday for us, but snow will continue to fall along the mountains.
The next wave will begin overnight Friday and continue through the first half of Saturday. A surface system moving in with the upper level low will swing through with a warm and cold front, which will make it the more “intense” of all the waves. This wave could bring 8-10 inches of mountain snow and another 1-3 inches for parts of the high desert.
The fourth, and last, low pressure system swings through at the top of next week bringing some light snow or wintry mix. Following that, we will be dry.
Temperatures are in the 40s today under mostly cloudy skies.
Happy Wednesday and have a great day today!
