Quiet and dry the rest of the week, rain over the weekend
The mild pattern continues today as the mercury in the thermometer will rise into the 50s again. Sunny skies and breezy conditions will define the day and the skies will remain mostly clear overnight. High pressure continues to keep the region quiet until Saturday.
The temperature readings Thursday and Friday will top out in the low 50s while the overnight hours will be a couple degrees above freezing. This will be changing over the weekend as rain and mountain snow returns. There will be a chance for a wintry mix Saturday with temps in the upper 40s. Widespread rain and snow are not anticipated but keep the umbrella handy.
Temperatures will be on the milder side of normal over the next seven days, including Christmas Day.
Sunday will be mild once again and there is a chance for off and on rain and snow. Monday will be much drier and still mild with a mix of clouds and sunshine.
Tuesday will start out with a bit of a wintry mix of rain and snow, then partial clearing in the afternoon. Some mountain snow will accumulate but very little snow is likely at lower elevations. Christmas Day will start out dry but after sunset there may be some light snow mixed a bit with rain. Not calling for a White Christmas, but we may see some snow overnight into Thursday.
Of note: Winter arrives officially at 1:20 am Saturday as the Winter Solstice occurs at that time. The direct rays of the Sun will be over the Tropic of Cancer and we will experience the least amount of daylight and the most darkness on the 21st.
