Winter Weather Advisory for portions of Central Oregon all weekend

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in place from 10pm tonight through 10pm Sunday. This is for the east slopes and crest of the Cascades. Included are Sunriver, La Pine, and Sisters. A couple of inches of snow at lower elevations, and almost foot is likely over the Cascades by the time Sunday rolls around.

The persistent pattern of cold rain, icy roads, foggy conditions, no sunshine will be with us once again Saturday.  There are a few fronts that have yet to cross the area and as they do the weather patterns vary.  The air ahead of the cold fronts will be mild and with the frontal passage it will be cooler.  There is not much difference between the warm and the cooler sectors, so there is this perpetual pattern of misty and foggy weather.  Until we get a ridge of high pressure to bump these impulses from Oregon, we remain dreary and gray.

Saturday will be cloudy and mild with highs in the low 40s with off and on rain and snow.  The temperatures early Saturday will be in the upper 20s, cold enough to generate a mix of rain and snow. Later in the day the precipitation should be mostly rain. Steady and light showers will be a good way to define the conditions.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the middle 40s. There is a slight chance we may finally see some sunshine but the main feature Sunday will be cloudy and mild.

Monday will once again bring some light rain and snow to Central Oregon.  Highs will be in the low 40s after low 30s in the morning.  The rain and mixed precip will arrive later in the afternoon and be spotty.  There may not be much moisture to work with by Monday, so only a slight chance of rain is what I expect.

Tuesday the region begins a dry pattern as high pressure moves in and sets up for a couple of days.  Breezy and mild weather is on the docket for Tuesday followed by dry and mild weather the rest of the week.

Please stay safe.
