Dry and mild this week, much colder this weekend
There will be plenty of sunshine to go around over the next several days, which will allow the temperature readings to hit the 50s until Friday. The fly in the ointment is the chance for some fog to develop in some regions keeping the temps well below the forecast. This will impact the lower elevations as we have seen several times this winter season and this week will be no different.
Aside from the potential fog, our region will be impacted by an area of high pressure that is not going anywhere for the next few days. Temperatures in the afternoon will top out in the upper 40s to low 50s through Thursday and the ski resorts will experience several days of sunny and dry weather.
The next big change for Central Oregon arrives on Friday as bitter cold arctic air arrives. The cold air will back into the region from the east as a deep trough dives into the middle of the country. Highs will drop about 15 degrees from Thursday to Friday under mostly sunny skies.
Not much precipitation is expected with this temperature change Friday, but the days will see highs in the 30s and lows in the teens over the weekend.
Enjoy the mild conditions this week, as the weekend will be much colder. No precipitation is expected in this forecast, dry through at least next Monday.
