Bitter pattern ends, snowy and wet pattern begins

We are seeing the last of the sub-zero forecasts for a while as the region is now being impacted by milder and wetter conditions.  The area of low pressure is moving across the region and will be providing us with snow today and tonight and early Friday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in place, in our tri-counties of Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook, until Friday. Not much snow, but the roads will be slick and the snow may be heavy at times, so reduced visibility will contribute to our travel troubles.

The snow will best be described as off and on snow showers with little in the way of accumulation (2 – 4) by the time all is said and done.  But it will be the impact and timing of the snow that is a concern. The snow is set to return in the evening then linger into the morning hours.  The morning commute will be impacted by the snow, so allow a bit of time getting to your destination.

Friday morning will see the snow, but for the later portion of the day, we see the snow mainly on the Cascades, and tapering off as well.  The forecast overnight into Saturday does have us on the dry side and we should stay that way through the afternoon. Late in the day some clouds arrive and snow is possible after midnight into Sunday.

Spotty snow and rain will define Sunday as temperatures will be closer to our normal numbers, the middle 40s.  Off and on rain and snow linger into Monday followed by a dry Tuesday and more wintry mix precipitation on Thursday, keeping with the theme, off and on.

Please stay safe.
