Persistent pattern of precipitation expected next week

There will be snow falling over the Cascades for several days in a row as the spring season extends with new snow.  Overall, the weather pattern will be moving into a “spring-like” pattern with a series of wet days ahead. Not much rain or snow is expected, but the persistence of the precipitation forces us to make sure we always have some rain gear in the car.

There will be a few areas of low pressure that are likely to meander off the coast through next week. These features will provide us with light rain and a wintry mix starting Sunday.  There will not be much snow accumulating but is may be falling at times.  The temperatures will be well above freezing each afternoon, so liquid precipitation is likely.  There may be some wintry mix precip at times, but generally it should be light rain.

Saturday will be the only dry day for the next several.  A weak area of high pressure drifts over Oregon and should provide the clear and dry conditions. Highs will be in the low 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday begins the rainy package with stray showers developing in the afternoon. A passing shower is a good way to define the day as there may be some sunshine, but also brief periods of rain.

Monday will show us off and on rain showers, mixed with some sunshine. Once again, more of a nuisance than anything overly beneficial, although any rain is good rain as we will be filling up the water table for the long and dry summer months.

Tuesday there will be a better chance for showers than Monday, but not a washout by any stretch. The rain will keep the temperatures a bit cooler, only topping out in the upper 40s.

Wednesday and Thursday will see similar weather conditions as brief waves of rain and mountain snow arrive.

Mountain resorts are enjoying the forecast as we are adding several inches to the base totals that took a little hit with the milder weather the past few days.

Please stay safe.
