Spotty showers and cooler than normal temps kick off the month of April
Although the area is receiving some light rain and snow, nothing major is expected to overtake the region. Temperatures this week will be in the middle to upper 40s each afternoon until Thursday and overnight we will dip below freezing. Not much precipitation is likely, but spotty showers will be present. Since today is the last day of March, as the expression goes, “March is going out like a Lamb”, referring to the quiet nature of the patterns this time of year. Of course this is not correct, it is just an old fable, the weather patterns are not that consistent, but it works sometimes.
April will begin with showers, albeit off and on and light. The temperatures will be cool enough in the mornings to generate some flurries. South of Bend and west of Redmond we may see some snow accumulating on the grass, but roads should just get wet. This will be possible, not only on Tuesday, but Wednesday as well.
Thursday begins the clearing process and the end to the spotty yet persistent pattern of precipitation. Highs will be in the upper 40s once again, but there will be a noticeable reduction in cloud cover by the end of the day.
Friday through the weekend starts the sunny and mild pattern that some prefer. Highs will be near normal on Friday with highs in the middle 50s, followed by highs in the 60s on Saturday and Sunday. A few locations may see the low 70s by Sunday.
