Dry and mild pattern continues, rain arrives Friday

We are continuing to see plenty of sunshine in the afternoon hours and mostly clear skies overnight. The low temperatures in the clear and cloud free sky have been dipping below freezing each of the past few nights and that will continue tonight. If you have some dangling ornamental plants, you have put out on your porch already, you may want to bring them inside overnight in the cold air, just to be on the safe side.

Thursday will be sunny to start then as the day moves along the skies will become partly to mostly cloudy. Expect to see the mercury in the thermometer rise to the upper 60s before the clouds move in and inhibit the heating process.

Friday will be the first day of rain since the light showers we received on Saturday morning. The rain will arrive from the south and should take until the middle of the afternoon to make it to the ground. The showers will be light, and the cool air overnight may provide some light snow on the mountains. The snow will not be much of a factor since the roads are warm therefore a mostly wet pattern should be realized. I can't rule out some patchy ice in the pre-dawn hours Saturday so if you are heading to the University of Oregon Ducks Spring game, you may want to give yourself a bit more time through the passes.

Saturday will see some rain as well with most of the showers falling over the eastern portions of Deschutes and Jefferson Counties and a good slice of Crook County. The rain will be light and should linger off and on until the late afternoon time frame.

Sunday will be dry, cooler and a bit breezy to windy with highs in the upper 50s. Monday we warm back into the 60s. A stray shower may return Tuesday, but we are still expected to hit the middle 60s in the afternoon.

Please stay safe.
