Isolated thunderstorms possible over the weekend
The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of Oregon under the “General Thunderstorm Category” this weekend. The threat of severe storms is not likely, the general category just indicated that isolated storms are possible. Associated with the thunderstorms is of course, dangerous lightning along with some small hail. The rain may be heavy at times near the storms as well as some gusty winds near 25 – 30 mph.

The location of the storms should be to our east, but some storms in the heat of the day may develop in Crook and SE Deschutes Counties. Other than the storms the area will be getting some much-needed rainfall. Although not ideal to have heavy rain, it still will fill up some of the reservoirs and soak into the soil.
Saturday will have partly to mostly cloudy skies and the threat of storms is still on the table. The storms are expected to be east again, but may drift west into Crook County in the afternoon. Nothing severe is expected, but lightning is dangerous and it only takes on strike to start a fire or destroy a structure.
If you are out and about enjoying the spring pattern, make sure to bring along some rain gear. If you hear any thunder, get to a safe place until the thunder stops, guideline is 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.
Sunday will be partly cloudy with temps in the low 60s. The storms are still expected in Oregon, but mostly toward the Idaho border. The winds will be on the breezy to windy side as the storms pull away from Oregon.
Monday will be slightly milder with highs in the upper 60s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Tuesday will provide us with some light rain in the morning then clearing by the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 60s. We close out the work week in the 70s, possibly hitting 80 on Thursday.
Please stay safe.
