Dry and mild pattern kicks off the week, rain possible this weekend
A grass fire is burning in Jefferson County, quickly consuming over 2500 acres by 8:30 and beginning to move toward some populated areas of the Crooked River Region in Jefferson County.

There may be a few stray showers in the southern portion of Deschutes County today, but generally the pattern is expected to be dry. High temperatures to start the week will be above normal and we should hit the 80s through at least Wednesday.
The dry pattern along with some breezy conditions will not be favorable for our fire weather concerns. All indications are that the region is still ripe for some rapid fire growth if a fire is ignited. This will continue to be the issue through the week.
The last day of the work week, Friday, will be much cooler than the first. Highs Friday are expected to only reach the middle 60s and rain will be on the horizon for the rest of the weekend. Friday will be the setup day as clouds move in as the day moves along. Saturday will see the rain arrive and the air will be much cooler than normal, only reaching the low 60s. Showers linger into Sunday before we dry out in the afternoon and await the arrival of the 70s on Monday.
This is also the last week of Spring 2025. Spring ends on the 20th of June and summer begins as the Summer Solstice is Friday. That is defined in astronomical terms as the moment in time when the direct rays of the Sun over the tropic of Cancer. This year the solstice occurs at 7:41 pm local time. The Meteorological Summer, however, is in full swing and defined by the three warmest months (June, July, and August).
