Cooler pattern takes over, rain likely over the weekend

The Spring 2025 season is coming to an end, today is the last full day of Spring as Summer begins Friday.  The direct rays of the sun will be over the Tropic of Cancer at 7:41 pm local time, signifying the beginning of the Astronomical Summer.

It will not feel much like summer this weekend as the mercury in the thermometer is expected to only get to the upper 50s and low 60s Friday and Saturday.

There will be a significant drop in temperatures Friday as we go from the 80s early this week to the 60s and 50s tomorrow.  A dip in the jet stream brings in the cool pocket of air along with some light rain. There may even be some “wet” snow on the crests of the Cascades early Saturday morning.  The ground warmth will melt the snow, but we may see some minor accumulation on the grassy areas on La Pine and Sisters.

Rain will be off and on Friday and generally light. This will work in concert with the cool pool of air that will impact us this weekend.  Saturday will see a bit more widespread rain and not much sunshine.  The showers will produce some light rain, but we are not expected to get much more than a tenth of an inch. We will take it since we have been rain starved for the past several weeks. Highs Saturday will be in the 50s,

Sunday looks to rebound back to the upper 60s and low 70s as the skies slowly clear.  The Dry and warmer than normal pattern returns as we start the first full week of Summer 2025.
