Rain showers expected overnight and linger into Friday morning
Update: 9 pm Bend, Or (KTVZ)
Strong storms are moving across the Cascades and through Sunriver and La Pine, moving across Central Oregon for the next few hours.

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Fourth of July will start out on a rainy note with a few isolated thunderstorms mingled in at times. The rain is expected to arrive after midnight and linger off and on into the mid-morning. If it were not for the chance for thunderstorms, the rain will be a welcomed site for our parched earth. It is still a good thing to get some much-needed rain, but the lightning is never a good thing.
The temperatures on the Fourth will be in the middle to upper 70s due to the cloud cover and rain. The rain should be over by in the afternoon allowing for any outdoor activities to go off without much trouble from the weather. The fireworks displays should not be impacted either. If we do get some decent rain, the ground will not be as dry so fire ignitions may not be as easily developed.
The rest of the holiday weekend will be dry and sunny with temperatures in the 80s.
We warm to the low 80s on Saturday under mostly sunny skies then warm to near 90 on Sunday. The first full week of July will be hot as the mercury in the thermometer will reach the middle 90s most days next week. A few “pop-up” storms may develop by mid-week, but generally we are going to be sunny, hot, breezy and dry.
Please stay safe and have fun.
