Still mild, periods of rain Thursday, some clearing Friday

(KTVZ, Bend Ore). A complicated pattern will be unfolding over the next several days. Today is what I like to call the day of transition, or the ‘setup’ day for a changing pattern. An area of low pressure off the coast will meander there until Friday. This feature will be able to provide cloud cover and some rain to the region Thursday before moving north slightly and dissipating as it crosses the coast near Portland. Winds will be robust Thursday ahead of a cold front that is associated with this low. Bottom line, the area will see periods of rain Thursday, that may linger into early Friday, and it will be windy at times.

Highs on Thursday will still be in the 60s due to the southwest wind across Central Oregon.

This low is at the surface; in the upper levels of the atmosphere another low is diving south toward southern California. This low will slow down the eastern advancement of our coastal low.

Friday, expect to see the chance for some light rain early in the day then partial clearing in the afternoon. Highs will be above normal, in the middle 50s. Normal high temperatures for mid-November are around 50.

Saturday will be mild and dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs reach the upper 50s to low 60s, again, well above normal.

Sunday will start out dry and partly cloudy ahead of a rain/snow mix that will arrive overnight into Monday.

The event starts over the Cascades Sunday afternoon as rain, then transitions to snow before midnight. The high desert will see a mix of rain and snow overnight that should switch to all snow before sunrise.

Monday, the snowfall early in the day will end before noon, and our morning commute may be a bit tricky with some light snow accumulations. The fact that we are still in the 60s and upper 50s ahead of the snow will make it difficult for the snow to accumulate. Slick and slushy roads may be the end result Monday morning.

Please, Stay safe.
