Rainy pattern expected to stay north this holiday weekend

Bend, Ore (KTVZ). Holiday travel will be impacted by showers and some mountain snow, if you are traveling north.  Periods of rain and mountain snow will cross the Pacific Northwest, with most of the rain and mountain snow staying north of our three counties.

There will be rainy and wet conditions each of the next few days to our north, but Deschutes and Crook Counties should stay dry. Jefferson County is on the southern edge of most of this activity and will see some light rain from time to time into Thanksgiving.

The warmer than normal conditions are likely to keep any precipitation that falls in the form of rain. Overnight low temperatures will allow for some mountain snow, so the mountain passes may be impacted, but not overwhelmed. For the most part, travel issues will not be much of a problem, unless you are heading out of the Tri-Counties.

The bottom line is that our area is just south of the rainy pattern but we still may see some light rain and snow.  There will be very little sunshine over the next few days as cloud cover will take over the region.

Wednesday will be cloudy with a slight chance for rain, mainly Jefferson County.  Highs will be in the middle 50s.

Thanksgiving Day will be cloudy with a passing shower early in the day. Highs will be in the upper 50s ahead of a cold front. The front passes late in the day or evening and we will drop about ten degrees from Thursday to Friday.

A passing shower is possible Friday, but the bulk of the rainy pattern is still to our north and west. Highs will be in the upper 40s.

Some models continue the rainy pattern to our north after Friday, but the general thought is that we should be cloudy and dry through the rest of the weekend. Highs will be near normal Sunday, topping out in the middle 40s, then slightly warmer weather is expected Monday and Tuesday. Not much snow is expected until possibly Tuesday, when we may see some mountain snow develop.

Please, Stay safe.
