Periods of light rain and mountain snow early Thanksgiving Day
Bend, Ore (KTVZ). The persistent pattern of light rain and mountain snow will return late tonight and into Thanksgiving Day, but mainly in the morning. The steady stream of cloud cover and moisture is finally taking over the lower levels of the atmosphere, and we are seeing some pockets of light rain Wednesday afternoon. This shield of showers will migrate north, only to be replace by another batch of spotty showers early Thanksgiving.
Tonight, the region will be in-between showers as another brief round of spotty showers returns. I expect a mix of mountain snow and high desert rain/snow mix as the mercury in the thermometer will be dipping to the middle 20s and low 30s.
Thanksgiving Day will see some rain before noon, but should be partly to mostly cloudy in the afternoon. A mild late November afternoon is expected with highs in the upper 50s. Winds will be noticeable but not overwhelming by the afternoon as a cold front approaches overnight into Friday.
Friday, an area of low pressure moves into the Portland area and will provide a rainy morning for our neighbors to the northwest and north. The low breaks apart once it moves inland and the moisture will stay north of the tri-counties. Jefferson County may see some rain early Friday, but only light rain and drizzle. Temperatures will be cooler, topping out in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Saturday will be near normal temperature-wise with highs in the middle 40s under partly sunny skies. Mostly cloudy and chilly weather will define our day Sunday with highs in the 40s again.
Overall the weekend will be a quiet and dry one with more cloud cover than sunshine. Periods of light rain are not out of the forecast but nothing widespread is likely to develop in Central Oregon.
Please, Stay safe.
