Dreary, rainy, windy day with well above normal temperatures

Bend, Ore (KTVZ). Not much sunshine today as the Atmospheric River runs through the Pacific Northwest. Central Oregon is just to the south of the main impact zone, so we are getting light rain off and on along with gusty winds. Several river warnings have been issued in SW Washington State and around Portland, as heavy rain continues to pound that part of the region. There has been a report of a landslide/mudslide south of Neskowin on highway 101, which may be the first of many reported today.
As for Central Oregon, the dreary and rainy pattern will come to an end tonight. The light to moderate rain that generally impacted our western viewing areas like Sisters and Sunriver, will begin to taper off after midnight. The winds are still expected to be noticeable through Wednesday as well as the above normal temperatures.
High temperatures this week will hover around the low 60s and upper 50s. Records may fall or be tied this week as the ridge of high pressure continues to provide us with the warmer than normal pattern. The ridge is also the feature that is keeping the “Atmospheric River” to our north as the moisture rides around the northern periphery of this dome of air.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy as the Pacific Northwest is still being influenced by the rainy pattern, but we will start to see the sunshine return. The highs will be the warmest of the week, reaching the low 60s. Breezy conditions remain, but not as robust, you should be able to inflate your inflatable holiday decorations tomorrow.

Thursday will be dry, mild, with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Temperatures are still in the well above normal range, hitting the upper 50s, but sunny skies should prevail.
These dry and mild conditions will continue through the weekend. Normal high temperatures for this time of year are around 40 – 41°.

Snow is almost gone on the slopes at Bachelor. The latest opening date for Mt. Bachelor was December 14th 2008, which will be broken this year.
Please, Stay safe.
