Brushfire stopped west of Redmond

KTVZ

An improperly extinguished campfire apparently sparked a brushfire west of Redmond on Tuesday afternoon that took firefighters about three hours to fully put out, officials said.

Redmond fire crews were called around 3 p.m. to a reported large brush fire on a privately owned lot near Northwest 95th Street and West Highway 126, Fire Marshal Traci Cooper said.

They arrived to find a roughly 1/10 of an acre fire spreading slowly to the south in sagebrush, with several juniper trees ablaze, Cooper said.

The fire, held to about 1/10 of an acre, had no immediate involvement with nearby structures, the fire marshal said.

The Oregon Department of Forestry provided mutual-aid assistance at the scene.
