Clear The Shelters

Join NewsChannel 21 and our local shelter and business partners as we once again team up to Clear the Shelters and find loving homes for pets. Since 2015, this national campaign has helped more than 703,048 pets find new homes and $3.4 million donated nationally. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, 2021 exceeded expectations with more than 143,000 pets adopted nationally.

NewsChannel 21 will host a “Adopt & Donate” effort in August to help local shelters make a difference for Central Oregon pets (and people).

Here are ways you can participate in Clear the Shelters:

Adopt a Pet Through Clear The Shelters

The WeRescue app enables users to browse for adoptable pets in their area by breed, gender, size and other factors using their smartphone. Users can also submit their adoption applications and ask questions directly to shelters through the app.

In-Person Adoption

Make a Donation to a Local Animal Shelter

Clear The Shelters features online donations through partners Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site, which host the fundraising and cover all transaction fees so that 100% of donations go directly to shelters and rescues in need. Online donations can be made to participating shelters or rescues during the campaign at ClearTheSheltersFund.org, which is also accessible via ClearTheShelters.com.

Watch

Watch NewsChannel 21 every day from Aug 22 through the 26th to see which loveable animal is looking for its forever home.

A Clear the Shelters TV special to celebrate the 2022 nationwide efforts, and the positive impact pets have on our lives, will air on NewsChannel 21 (NBC/KTVZ). Date and time TBD.
