Humane Society receives grant for new clinic lights

KTVZ

The Humane Society of Central Oregon said Wednesday it has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to replace failing medical clinic lighting.

The grant enabled the shelter to purchase two LED surgical lights upgrading the quality of light without residual heat.

The HSCO veterinary clinic performs surgeries four days a week, spaying and neutering all dogs, cats and rabbits prior to adoption. As an active member of the Central Oregon Cat Alliance, HSCO also performs spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats born in the wild without exposure to people.

The Petco Foundation investment enabled HSCO to purchase new surgical lights providing critical visualization for surgeries.

“This lighting allows the Humane Society of Central Oregon to not only spay and neuter hundreds of animals per year, but also get them into new homes quickly,” said Sabrina Slusser, executive director of the humane society.
