Deschutes County 911 hires technical systems official
Deschutes County 9-1-1 has hired Will Mullins as the new Deputy Director of 9-1-1 Technical Systems. Mullins will begin his new role on Monday.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Will on board,” said Sara Crosswhite, interim communications director at Deschutes 9-1-1. “He has a breadth of telecommunications experience and a proven track record of implementing and maintaining complex systems. He will be a great addition to our team at 9-1-1 and his knowledge and passion for public safety will benefit the agencies that we serve.”
In his role, Mullins will provide oversight, leadership, and overall management for all of the 9-1-1 Service District’s technical systems, including the digital radio system, phone system and computer-aided dispatch systems. The Deputy Director of Technical Systems is a new position that was added to Deschutes 9-1-1 earlier this year.
Mullins served in the military, where he gained valuable experience in security force protection and telecommunications. After completing his military service, he worked in various public safety-related telecommunication capacities and earned several industry recognized certifications. He has more than 15 years of telecommunications experience directly supporting mission-critical operations.
Mullins holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT Management from the American Military University and an Associate’s degree in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He has also completed graduate coursework toward his MBA at Southern Nazarene University.
About Deschutes County 9-1-1: The 9-1-1 Service District takes all calls for police, fire, and medical service assistance in Deschutes County. It dispatches for 15 police and fire/emergency medical services (EMS) agencies and works closely with the U.S. Forest Service, AirLink, Oregon State Police, and other state and federal entities.
