Local Alert Weather – Wed. PM
Happy Wednesday evening, everyone!
Overnight we’ll be mainly dry throughout Central Oregon, but the highest elevations could still see some lingering showers. We’ll see partly cloudy to mostly clear skies for the High Desert. Overnight lows will fall into the 20s, which is closer to average than where we have been.
Tomorrow starts on a cold note with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. An area of low pressure will move through California to the east and Central Oregon could see a few showers out of the northernmost part of this system. We’ll see increasing clouds throughout the day and chances for mixed showers develop by the afternoon. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s.
Folks out in Prineville could see some snow later in the day tomorrow as snow showers are expected out east. Snow levels will be around 3,800′ Thursday, then falling to 3,300′ Friday morning, and plummeting to 2,800′ Friday evening.
Friday has a better chance for more mixed showers. As snow levels will be falling we could see some snow in Central Oregon. Highs for Friday will also be in the low to mid 40s.
Overnight into Saturday is when Mt. Bachelor and the ski areas will see another good push of snow. We’ll likely pick up anywhere from 6″-12″ for Saturday morning.
A few lingering snow showers could continue into Saturday for Central Oregon, but we’ll see a calmer end to the day. Highs will be cold this weekend in the mid to upper 30s, which is below average.
