OSP: Prineville driver was going 104 mph, flipped car

A Prineville woman whose car flipped onto its side after it was clocked going 104 mph Thursday evening on the O’Neil Highway west of Prineville was hospitalized and cited for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, Oregon State Police reported.

Khianna Marie Saunders, 20, was flown by air ambulance to St. Charles Bend after the crash and was reported to be in good condition Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Troopers said Saunders was heading east in a 2015 Chevy Cruze shortly before 6:30 p.m. when she was checked by radar to be going 104 mph.

They said she tried to negotiate a corner too fast, lost control and the car came to a rest on its side.

Saunders, alone in the car, was found to be injured and unconscious, but regained consciousness and was able to climb out of the car., troopers said. She was found to have non-life-threatening injuries and was issued criminal and violation citations.

Crook County Fire and Rescue, ODOT and Air Link assisted at the scene, troopers said. Active Towing was called out to remove and impound the car.
