Police in Washington state shoot, kill knife-wielding man

SEATTLE (AP) – Police in a city south of Tacoma have shot and killed a man who they say charged at officers with a knife.

KIRO-TV reports officers were sent to an apartment in Lakewood early Sunday after someone called police to say a man was in his apartment with a knife.

Police say when officers arrived, a man charged at them with a knife. Three officers fired, hitting the suspect, who died at the scene.

Police say the man who charged at officers turned out to be the man who called police. Investigators believe there was no one else in the apartment and he had described himself.

The three officers are now on administrative leave.
