Zika named to special homeownership task force

KTVZ

New state Rep. Jack Zika, R- Redmond, said Monday he has been appointed to the Task Force on Addressing Racial Disparities in Home Ownership by House Speaker Tina Kotek.

The task force was formed in 2018 after the passage of House Bill 4010 to address racial disparities in home ownership. A total of 11 committee members are on the committee, with Sen. James Manning Jr. and Repr. Mark Meek serving as co-chairs. Former Rep. Rich Vial was also named onto the task force by Speaker Kotek.

“As a licensed Realtor, it’s very important that every potential first-time homebuyer has the opportunity to purchase a home if they want to,” Zika said. “The American dream of home ownership should be attainable for every Oregonian and I would like to thank Speaker Tina Kotek for allowing me to serve on this committee to address this critical topic.”

“I look forward to working closely with members of this task force to produce recommendations and legislation that will eliminate racial disparities in the process of owning a home. As a realtor and homeowner myself, I take this topic to heart and will honorably serve Central Oregonians in this capacity,” he added.
