Redmond teen accused in 24 graffiti incidents
A Redmond police officer encountered an 18-year-old downtown late Monday night with silver paint on his hands and he was arrested the next day, accused of two-dozen graffiti taggings around the city.
Police contacted Devin Knight around 11:40 p.m. Monday in downtown Redmond and the officer noted he had silver paint on his hands, Lt. Curtis Chambers said.
The teen was allowed to leave at the time, as officers could not immediately link him to any crimes, Chambers said.
The next morning, officers searched the downtown area and found “a significant amount of fresh silver-colored graffiti, in addition to reports of graffiti coming in from various locations in Redmond,” the lieutenant said in a news release.
Officers worked with a downtown business and obtained video surveillance of someone applying graffiti within the past week, Chambers said. Devin Knight, 18, of Redmond, was identified as the person in the video.
Knight was contacted around 11 a.m. Tuesday at a Redmond home, arrested and booked into the Deschutes County Jail on first- and second-degree criminal mischief charges.
He remained jailed Wednesday, held on $25,000 bail.
