$150K grant to fund S. county wildfire fuels reduction

KTVZ

The Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund has awarded a grant of $150,000 to the Upper Deschutes River Communities for the reduction of wildfire fuels in the south Deschutes County area.

The grant will provide up to $1,000 for fuels reduction services for senior low-income homeowners in southern Deschutes County. An application form with instructions is available at www.udrc.org on the Programs page.

Strategizing the reduction of hazardous wildland fire fuels and increasing fire protection capabilities is a part of the Upper Deschutes River Communities Wildfire Protection Plan. Improving safety and security of our communities reduces the risks to fire fighters and first responders.

The mission of the UDRC is to protect the Upper Deschutes River Communities by supporting fire-adapted communities, pure and abundant river flows and wildlife habitat.
